Zacks
zacks.com
Independent stock research built on the Zacks Rank, an earnings-estimate-revision rating, with free per-stock ranks and $249-a-year Premium for full lists.
What it is
Zacks Investment Research is a Chicago research firm whose central product is the Zacks Rank: a 1 (Strong Buy) to 5 (Strong Sell) rating driven mainly by changes in analysts' earnings estimates. Alongside it sit Style Scores (Value, Growth, Momentum and a combined VGM grade), an Industry Rank across 265 industries, Earnings ESP (a measure of whether a company is likely to beat consensus), screeners for stocks, ETFs, mutual funds and options, and an earnings calendar.
Much of this is free. Any stock's quote page shows its Zacks Rank, Style Scores and industry rank without an account, and the basic screens and calendars are open. Zacks Premium, at $249 a year after a 30-day free trial, adds the full Zacks #1 Rank list, the Focus List, premium screens, the Earnings ESP Filter, Zacks equity research reports with price targets on more than 1,000 stocks, and a mostly ad-free site.
Above Premium, Zacks sells newsletter-style services (Options Trader, Insider Trader, Surprise Trader and others) and the Zacks Ultimate bundle, which opens with a $1, 30-day trial; their full prices are shown only during sign-up. The Rank is a quantitative rating on a one-to-three-month horizon, not a full valuation, so it is most useful as one input to your own research.
