Stocktwits
stocktwits.com
Social network of ticker-tagged trader posts, with trending lists and a retail sentiment gauge per symbol; free with ads, Edge adds full sentiment data.
What it is
Stocktwits is a social feed organized around tickers. Every post is tagged with a symbol ($AAPL, $BTC.X), so each stock, ETF and crypto asset has its own running conversation alongside a live quote, news, an earnings calendar and community polls. The site says it has more than 10 million users, and its trending list shows which tickers are being discussed most right now.
What makes it useful as a data source rather than just a chat room is the sentiment layer: posters can tag a message bullish or bearish, and Stocktwits turns message volume and tagged sentiment into per-ticker readings. The free account shows the feed, trending tickers and basic sentiment with ads. The Edge subscription removes ads and adds full sentiment data with chart overlays, expanded trending and watcher data, advanced search and posts of up to 10,000 characters. An Ad Free plan only removes ads, and an Enterprise tier sells the data by API.
Treat the feed as a gauge of retail attention, not as research. Posts are unverified opinions, and sentiment readings reflect what posters say, not what they trade.
