StockFetcher
stockfetcher.com
Long-running, low-cost technical stock screener where you write scans as plain-English phrases, with 125+ indicators and a large forum of shared filters.
What it is
StockFetcher, owned by Vestyl Software LLC, is a technical screener built on a text language instead of dropdown menus. You type a filter such as "show stocks where RSI(14) crossed above 30 and close is above 5 and average volume(30) is above 250000" and it returns the matching US stocks with charts. More than 125 indicators are available, from moving averages and MACD to Connors RSI, candlestick patterns and cup-and-handle detection, and filters can define their own variables.
Most features can be used without paying, but results are capped at five stocks per filter. The Standard subscription costs $8.95 a month or $24.95 a quarter and removes the cap. Advanced costs $16.95 a month or $44.95 a quarter and handles more complex filters (those with many nested custom variables), with larger download and save limits. One-time PayPal payments for six months or a year are also offered. A 5-day free trial is available with a promotional code at sign-up, and a card is required.
Data is end-of-day from DDFPlus and CSI Data, and intraday updates have been added; quotes during market hours are delayed at least 15 minutes for Nasdaq and 20 minutes for NYSE and Amex. The site looks dated and some older tools still require Flash, but the forum holds many years of filters shared by users, which is the fastest way to learn the syntax.
