Trading Economics Calendar

tradingeconomics.com

Free economic calendar for 180+ countries with actual, previous, consensus and Trading Economics' own forecast per release, plus paid downloads and API.

What it is

Trading Economics runs one of the broadest free economic calendars on the web. It lists scheduled releases for more than 180 countries, from the major economies (US, Euro Area, UK, Japan, China, Canada, Australia) to emerging markets, across interest rates, inflation, jobs, GDP, trade, government finance, business and consumer confidence, housing, bond auctions, energy, holidays and earnings.

Each release shows four numbers side by side: the actual figure, the previous period, the market consensus and TEForecast, Trading Economics' own model forecast. Having both a consensus and an independent forecast is less common on free calendars. You can filter by date range, country or region, three levels of importance, 13 event categories and any of 38 time zones, all without an account. Each indicator links through to its page of historical data and charts.

The calendar is free to browse; the business model sits behind it. Bulk historical downloads (Trading Economics advertises data for 20 million indicators) and the API, which also serves the calendar, need a paid subscription. API prices depend on the features used, request volume and how the data is redistributed, and the pricing tables did not display when we checked. API trial users are capped at 100,000 data points and 100 requests, and trial fees are non-refundable. Mobile apps are available for iOS and Android.

Strengths

  • Very broad country coverage, well beyond G7 economies
  • Shows both market consensus and an independent model forecast
  • Free with no account needed for browsing
  • Links each release to its historical data series

Limitations

  • Bulk historical downloads and the API require a paid subscription
  • API prices are not shown as a simple table and depend on usage and redistribution
  • API trials are capped at 100,000 data points and 100 requests, and trial fees are non-refundable
  • TEForecast is a model estimate, not a market consensus

Good fit for

  • Macro and forex traders who follow many countries
  • Traders who want consensus and an alternative forecast side by side
  • Developers who need economic calendar data through an API

Look elsewhere if
