StockCharts ChartSchool

chartschool.stockcharts.com

StockCharts' free technical analysis reference: articles on indicators, chart patterns and market indicators plus a glossary, as a knowledge base.

What it is

ChartSchool is the educational library of StockCharts.com. It is organized as a reference, not a lesson sequence, in eight sections: an overview for beginners, chart analysis (chart types, patterns and techniques), technical indicators and overlays, market indicators such as breadth and sentiment gauges, market analysis methods, trading strategies and models, a catalog of the index and market indicator symbols available on StockCharts, and a glossary.

Articles typically explain what an indicator measures, how it is calculated and how traders read it, often with StockCharts chart examples. A search box accepts questions as well as keywords, and pages are available as plain Markdown, which makes the library easy to reference.

Reading ChartSchool is free and does not require an account. It is written around StockCharts' own charting platform, so examples and some instructions refer to StockCharts features and symbols; applying the ideas in live charts means using StockCharts or another charting tool, and full StockCharts features are part of its paid plans.

Strengths

  • Broad coverage of indicators, patterns and market breadth in one place
  • Explains calculations as well as interpretation
  • Free, with no signup
  • Search accepts plain-language questions

Limitations

  • A reference library, not a structured course with exercises or progress tracking
  • Examples are built around StockCharts' own charts and symbols
  • Covers technical analysis only; little on options, fundamentals or risk management

Good fit for

  • Traders looking up what an indicator does before adding it to a chart
  • Beginners learning chart patterns and technical terms
  • StockCharts users who want documentation for its indicators

Look elsewhere if

  • Learners who want a guided course or video lessons
  • Options traders looking for strategy education (an options-focused course fits better)
