Options Industry Council (OIC)

optionseducation.org

Free, exchange-backed options education from OCC: self-paced courses with quizzes, webinars, podcasts and calculators using 20-minute delayed data.

What it is

The Options Industry Council (OIC) is the investor-education arm of the US listed options industry. It is provided by OCC, the Options Clearing Corporation that clears every US-listed option, and supported by the major options exchanges, including Cboe, Nasdaq, NYSE, MIAX, MEMX and BOX. Because it is funded by the industry rather than by course sales, everything is free and there is nothing to upsell.

The core is the OIC Options Academy, a self-paced, multi-course curriculum for beginners through experienced traders. Courses include Options 101 on basic concepts and terminology, Getting to Know the Greeks, options volatility and selling options, with videos, podcasts, knowledge checks, quizzes and progress tracking. Around it sit on-demand webinars, a podcast, a digital options strategy guide and an Investor Services contact for questions.

The tools section, powered by iVolatility data delayed 20 minutes, includes an options calculator for American and European options with Greeks, a probability calculator, a position profit and loss simulator, historical versus implied volatility charts, an options monitor, a stock monitor and a list of the day's most active options. They are well suited to learning and checking a trade idea, but the delay and single-position focus mean they do not replace a broker's trading tools.

OIC explains how options work; it does not recommend trades or strategies for your account.
