ThetaScanner

thetascanner.com

Low-cost wheel strategy screener ranking cash-secured puts and covered calls across 1,400+ tickers, with a built-in trade journal and wheel tracker.

What it is

ThetaScanner is built for option sellers, specifically traders running the wheel: sell a cash-secured put, take assignment if it comes, then sell covered calls against the shares. Its screener covers more than 100,000 contracts on over 1,400 US tickers and filters by ROI, annualized return, delta, theta, implied volatility, days to expiration, liquidity and earnings dates. On top of that sit a CSP Finder that turns a cash amount into a suggested put portfolio, a Covered Call Finder for shares you already hold, and curated views of top yields, most-traded contracts and in-house picks scored out of 100.

The free plan needs no card but is limited to 12 large tickers (AAPL, TSLA, NVDA, SPY, QQQ and others) and shows only the first few results in each view. Pro, at $5.99 a month or $60 a year, opens every ticker and filter, the full CSP and covered call builders, and a trading journal with portfolio analytics and a wheel cycle tracker.

Know before you pay that the data is not live: prices are delayed about 15 minutes and refreshed roughly every 15 minutes during market hours, plus an overnight update. That suits end-of-day or once-a-session premium selling, not scalping fills. There is no broker connection; trades are logged by hand or imported from CSV.

Key features

Options screener
More than 100,000 contracts across 1,400+ tickers, with 20+ filters covering greeks, IV, ROI, annualized yield, DTE, fundamentals and technicals.
CSP Finder
Enter available cash and risk preferences and it proposes a portfolio of cash-secured puts with portfolio-level metrics. Free users see one result.

Ticker deep dive
Per-ticker view with max pain, net flow, an open interest chart, analyst ratings, a technical scorecard and three proprietary scores.
Trading journal and wheel tracker

Strengths

  • Focused entirely on put selling, covered calls and the wheel, rather than a general options toolkit
  • Pro costs $5.99 a month, well below most options analytics tools
  • Portfolio builders turn a cash amount or share position into concrete candidates
  • Journal and wheel tracker keep adjusted cost basis across assignment cycles

Limitations

  • Data is delayed about 15 minutes and refreshed roughly every 15 minutes, so quotes are not live
  • The free plan covers only 12 tickers and truncates most results
  • No broker integration: trades are entered by hand or by CSV import
  • Built for single-leg premium selling; spreads and other multi-leg strategies are not its focus

Good fit for

  • Wheel traders selling cash-secured puts and covered calls
  • Income-focused investors comparing premium yield across many tickers
  • Small accounts that want a screener and journal without a large subscription

Look elsewhere if

  • Day traders who need real-time options quotes
  • Traders building multi-leg or volatility strategies who need a broader analytics platform
