PropReports
propreports.com
Hosted back-office and reporting system for proprietary trading firms, covering P&L, commission plans, payouts and fees; sold to firms, not individuals.
What it is
PropReports, from Barshay Software, is the back office many proprietary trading firms run behind their traders. Each day it imports executions, positions and cash movements from the firm's execution platforms and clearing firms, then produces trading activity, position, profit and loss, balance and payout reports. Owners can build their own commission plans, split profit and commissions across any number of reps with a formula language, post one-off and recurring fees, and compare performance across groups of traders. Traders at a firm that uses it log in to see their own P&L, commissions, fees, ECN rebates and payouts, and export reports to Excel.
It handles equities, options, futures, FX, bonds and mutual funds, and lists integrations with platforms such as DAS, Sterling, Lightspeed, Takion and MetaTrader and clearing firms such as Wedbush and ETC; it will add a new data source at no charge. P&L is calculated with intraday FIFO followed by overnight FIFO, so its numbers can differ from a platform that uses average cost.
This is not a personal trading journal. The company states it cannot offer the product to individual traders because a single-account installation is too costly to maintain. Firms pay $1,000 a month for up to 25 active accounts plus $3 for each active account beyond that, with a $2,000 deposit.

Strengths
- Built specifically for prop firm back-office needs: commission plans, splits, fees and payouts
- Covers equities, options, futures, FX, bonds and mutual funds
- Long list of supported execution platforms and clearing firms, with new integrations at no charge
- Hosted, with nothing to install and data retained indefinitely
Limitations
- Not available to individual traders; only firms can license it
- Minimum cost of $1,000 a month plus a $2,000 deposit
- Data is imported daily, so reports are end of day rather than live
- P&L uses FIFO and may not match platforms that use average cost
Good fit for
- Proprietary trading firms that need centralised P&L, commission and payout reporting
- Brokers and firms managing many trader accounts across several clearing firms
Look elsewhere if
- Individual traders looking for a personal trading journal; a retail journal fits better
- Small groups for whom $1,000 a month is out of proportion
