FlashAlpha

flashalpha.com

An options analytics API for dealer gamma, delta, vanna and charm exposure and volatility surfaces, with SDKs, an MCP server and a small free tier.

What it is

FlashAlpha computes options exposure metrics and serves them mainly through a REST API, with a web dashboard, WebSocket streaming for larger clients and an MCP server for AI assistants. The core outputs are per-strike gamma (GEX), delta (DEX), vanna (VEX) and charm (CHEX) exposure, Greeks, implied volatility, max pain and 3D volatility surfaces. It covers more than 6,000 US equities and ETFs plus CME futures such as ES and NQ, with minute-level historical replay back to January 2017.

The plans are built around daily request counts, data freshness and which symbols you can query. The free plan gives 5 requests a day on 15-minute-old data for single stocks only. Basic ($79 a month, or $63 on annual billing) raises that to 250 requests on 15-second data and adds index ETFs such as SPY and QQQ. Growth adds CME futures, full-chain GEX, 0DTE analytics and a 20-symbol live screener. Alpha removes request caps, refreshes about every second and includes the historical API.

This is a developer product first. If you want to look at gamma levels without writing code, the dashboard helps, but the pricing and limits are set by API usage. Historical backtesting data is only in the top retail tier.

Strengths

  • Vanna and charm exposure alongside gamma and delta, not just GEX
  • SDKs in five languages and an MCP server for AI assistants
  • CME futures exposure on the Growth plan
  • Minute-level history back to 2017 for backtesting on Alpha

Limitations

  • The free plan's 5 requests a day and single-stock limit rule out SPY or SPX work
  • Index ETFs need at least Basic, futures need Growth at $299 a month
  • Historical data and the full flow tape are only in the $1,499 Alpha plan
  • Exposure figures are model estimates of dealer positioning, not observed dealer books

Good fit for

  • Developers building their own gamma-exposure dashboards or bots
  • Quant traders who want dealer-positioning data through an API
  • Futures traders tracking ES and NQ options exposure

Look elsewhere if

  • Traders who want a ready-made flow feed without writing code
  • Beginners who only need occasional GEX levels (free charts elsewhere may be enough)
