What it is
eToro US is the American arm of the social trading platform. Through one account on the web and iOS and Android apps, US customers can buy stocks and ETFs (including fractional shares from $10), trade options, and buy crypto. Securities are offered by a FINRA and SIPC member broker-dealer; the minimum first deposit is $50.
Costs are simple. Stock and ETF trades have no commission, and eToro covers the regulatory fee on stock sales. US options trades have no commission and no per-contract fee; only small exchange and regulatory fees are passed on. Crypto is the exception: every buy or sale carries a flat 1% fee.
What sets eToro apart is the social layer. The feed shows what other investors are trading and saying, and options traders can follow active traders' options activity in real time. CopyTrader, which automatically mirrors another investor's portfolio, is available in the US for stocks, ETFs and crypto, with a $200 minimum per copied trader. US users can only copy other US users, and it is not available in every state.
